A little over a month ago, I was able to take a trip I had been wanting to do for awhile.  Since my kids were itty bitty I have made it a purpose to know where our food comes from.  We purchase most of our meat, milk, yogurt, fruit, and vegetables from local or free range and organic farms.  I love being able to visit the farms, meet the farmers, and see first hand the process.  As most of you know Young Living essential oils has been an important part of our life for nearly 7 years and since we use the oils and oil infused products daily I wanted to know the quality is truly what they claim.  I mean I put these oils on my kids and share my love of oils daily with my friends and family!  When the opportunity came I was so excited!  I was even more excited when Joanna, a horse trainer on my team, decided to join me since we would also be attending the Essential Oils and Animal Conference (more on that later).

I had no idea just how excited I would be to visit the Young Living Lavender Farm in Mona Utah, but when we saw the first sign I couldn’t stop smiling and I am confident that smile stayed until we left.  It truly was a dream come true and I knew my excitement was a testimony of how blessed I have been by this company.   Not just how the products have blessed our personal lives, but the friendships I have made on this journey, the experiences this company has provided, and the opportunity to share this love with others blesses my socks off daily.   I have used these oils daily and I was so excited to finally see the actual journey and process it takes before it reaches my door.  I knew the ticket would be at the farm to see it firsthand.  I would be able to talk to the farmers and see the journey and story behind each bottle.

When we first arrived at the farm we went on a tour of the farm.  This was definitely a highlight of the trip to be able to see the seed to seal process.  I love that I can walk up to our Young Living farm and see a sweet man taking care of each baby lavender plant by hand.  I was blown away by the detailed process and care that went into this step alone.  They make sure they have the best seeds and conditions are just right to grow the plants in the greenhouses.  I do not have a green thumb so I know there is a lot that goes into getting this right and it made me so appreciate these workers.

We could of course could see acres of Lavender fields and several other fields like goldenrod, clary sage, and peppermint.  It was truly breathtaking!  One of the things that blew my mind was that they do not use any pesticides.  WHAT?!?  They hand pick all of the weeds in acres of fields.  Fields that provide over a million homes with essential oils.  It would obviously be easier to use pesticides, but that would ruin the plants by putting chemicals in the bottles of our essential oils.  Many companies do that, but I am so thankful Young Living has the highest standards even if it means things take longer and they need a bigger workforce.

Next we toured the distillery.  They had been distilling Juniper so we were able to see it in the middle of the process.  The distillation process takes a couple hours longer for each batch then most other oil companies because they make no shortcuts.  This is why Young Living is the world leader in essential oils.  They are the only company in the world that does all 5 steps of the seed to seal process.  They believe you and I deserve products that are genuine, free of synthetic chemicals, and of unmatched purity.  The seed to seal process is a calling not a slogan.  I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to meet Gary Young and hear him speak from his heart about why he does what he does and to see his vision being played out.  I do not know if I have ever met anyone that is such a hard worker and a perfectionist but also has such a humble and gentle spirit.  It is evident that he does what he does to help others and change lives.

Then we went underneath to see the oil coming up from the distillation.  The dark oil rising to the top is juniper.  Young Living is recognized as an innovator in essential oil distillation.  They use a gentle, proprietary technique for steam extracting the most effective essential oils, as well as using cold press resin tapping methods for select oils.

Next we walked over to the Farm to Field Station to see the oils being tested.  Young Living never accepts diluted, cut, or adulterated oils.  To guarantee consistent quality the oils are tested in Young Living’s own internal labs, as well as third party facilities.  They test each batch multiple times throughout the process to ensure they meet stringent specifications, exceed international standards, and contain the optimal levels of natural bioactive compounds.  We were able to see Juniper and Peppermint in the testing area.  It smelled amazing in this room.

After we finished our distillery tour Joanna and I went on a tour of the farm with a cowboy/horse trainer in a horse and wagon.  The farm has many animals and areas for events they put on for the community.  Mona Utah is a very small community, but the farm has provided many jobs which has greatly blessed Mona and the surrounding areas.  This is why it is called Young Living Family Farm.  It was so fun to see the whole farm from the wagon and I am pretty sure I had the biggest smile on my face the whole time.  I was in complete awe of this place.  My favorite picture is of Joanna in the middle of the jousting arena that they use during the lavender days festival every year.  I mean when do you get to have a picture in the middle of a jousting arena!  haha!

They also had a visitor center and farm store that was so fun to see.  They also had Lavender ice cream for sale that of course I had to try!  I had never seen so many YL products available to purchase in a store so  I was in oil heaven.  I wish I lived closer, or maybe not for my wallet’s sale!  lol

Being able to visit the Young Living Lavender Farm brought into full circle why I trust Young Living to provide my family with products that are non-toxic and chemical-free.   I was absolutely blown away by the heart of Gary Young, the care of the farm, and how much attention they make in each step of the seed to seal process so we can have the purest oils in the world.  According to Kurt Schnaubelt, Ph.D, 95% of essential oils are not pure, genuine or authentic.  They are altered and only partially natural with lesser quality oils mixed in.  Know that if a label says pure, natural, or therapeutic you should think twice before using it.  Some of the fillers are very toxic and could cause allergic reactions, irritations, and toxic side effects.  I would never trust putting an essential oil on my kids that did not have 100% Pure Therapeutic Grade Essential oil on the bottle.  The only ingredient in a bottle of Young Living Essential oils is 100% pure essential oil and nothing added.  Many people ask me all the time why Young Living?  Why not the cheaper brands from the local store?  This  is what sets apart Young Living from any other company.  Just the other day I was at at local health store that had handmade and labeled essential oil bottles.  I did not tell them I used Young Living, but I asked them where the oils came from and if they had ever visited the farms.  They were clueless and just order oils in bulk from a company.  They had no idea where the oils came from, the process, and most likely the true quality.  I could tell they had never even thought to ask those questions before.  It was another reminder to continue to share my love of oils and this company.  If you ever question what you are putting in and on your body I encourage you to visit the farms yourself or do your own research.  Make sure they are what they claim, especially if you incorporate them into your daily life and truly desire to live a chemical-free lifestyle.

Hi!  I am so glad you found your way to our website.  My name is Trisha and I have been using Young Living Essential oils for over 6 years.DSC_2822-Edit Trust me, at first I thought this whole oil thing was a little crazy, but slowly but surely the products and essential oils began changing my life and the lives of my family and friends.  Before long we could not deny the power of these amazing products. The purpose of this website is to provide you with a place to come for a wealth of info on how to use essential oils safely (maybe even more then you cared to ever know).

When I first started using essential oils I did not have many resources and had to learn on my own.  I want to make your oil journey much easier!  I have done the hard research and played around with these oils for 6 years.  Around the same time I was introduced to Young Living I also went to school at the Integrative Institute of Nutrition and became a certifited Holistic Health and Nutrition Coach.  I feel like health and wellness is much more then just using good supplements and essential oils.  Eating right and exercising also plays a big role.  This website will mainly focus on Young Living and essential oils, but from time to time I will also share health and nutrition info.

Make sure to look around the website and learn all you can!  The Diffusing the Joy community is full of wonderful people who love helping and sharing their oil knowledge.  Can you tell I love them?  Seriously they are the best and many of them will be sharing on this blog so make sure to come back often.  We will be sharing our testimonies, favorite products, DIY recipes, free products you can receive each month, and so so much more!  If you have any questions make sure to let us know!

Happy Oiling!

Trisha
